Something is shifting slowly in the Swiss job market. I'm seeing it up close.
Six of my clients have signed offers this quarter. Two more are in final-round interviews.
And the data backs up what I'm feeling: Swiss employment grew 0.5% year-on-year in Q1 2026, and vacancies are ticking up too - the market is cautiously stabilising after a challenging 2025.
But here's the nuance most headlines miss.
This isn't a wide-open reopening. Hiring remains selective and cost-aware. And cautious.

A few things I'm noticing as a career transition coach in Switzerland currently:
→ Interim-to-permanent is often a favourite. Many senior roles are landing through fixed-term or interim placements first - lower risk for the employer, a foot in the door for the candidate. Over half convert to permanent.
→ Q4 decisiveness. Budget releases and post-summer clarity mean the roles that were "under discussion" all year are finally being filled.
→ Many job successes are not only happening on job boards. Every client of mine who's moved recently did it through a conversation, an introduction, or someone remembering them at the right moment. That's the network-driven job market at work - and it's exactly why relationship-building outperforms volume-applying right now.
If you've felt stuck all summer, this is a good moment to re-engage . A coffee. A reconnect. A well-placed message.
